Personal Statement

Life can be hard and overwhelming, full of unexpected turns, twists, and detours. It can be extremely challenging to navigate through issues such anxiety, depression, and major life changes. These challenges impact our daily life and relationships. Anxiety and Depression can impact our daily life. In counseling sessions with me, we work together to find coping skills to decrease symptoms and not only manage the overwhelm but to move through it. My goal is to provide you with support fully through the process of breakthrough and healing, to move you forward in your life and in your personal and professional relationships.

I’m a therapist here at Counseling Professionals. By beginning to find the help you need, you are already making brave steps toward the life you want and deserve. In therapy, we will discuss strategies and skills to move you toward your goals.

Therapy provides a safe and confidential place to identify and explore feelings, thoughts and behaviors to make life more enjoyable. My approach is to actively engage with you in our sessions and build a trusting and supportive relationship. Ensuring this good connection gives us a solid foundation for change to happen.

About Me

Danielle Oates is a compassionate and dedicated counselor who has been a part of Counseling Professionals since October 2022. Her journey at CP has been fulfilling, thanks to an environment that understands and supports her passion, work ethic, and prioritization of client needs. As a provider, Danielle's unwavering dedication and genuine care for her clients have driven her to excel in her role and create a lasting impact on those she helps.

Danielle's path to becoming a counselor began with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. Driven by the idea of making a positive impact, she decided she wanted to help people before involvement with the criminal legal system and chose a career in mental health. Initially aspiring to be a school counselor, Danielle's perspective expanded, leading her to explore various avenues within the mental health field.

Before joining Counseling Professionals, Danielle honed her counseling skills in diverse settings, beginning with several years working as a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor with YWCA. Her experience has also included working as an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) counselor and in clinical outpatient positions.

With a commitment to evidence-based practices and a trauma-informed approach, Danielle grounds her work in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Additionally, she holds a Positive Parenting Program (PPP) certification. Always seeking growth, she remains open to exploring new techniques and attending consultations with peers to enhance her abilities to cater to each client's unique needs.

Danielle's specializations and interests lie in working with adults and children aged 10 and above. She actively engages with parents in the therapeutic process, emphasizing their participation in the journey to healing. Her expertise encompasses a wide range of areas, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship conflicts, parenting challenges, stress management, domestic violence, sexual assault, school issues, trauma, and family conflicts. Additionally, she has a keen focus on women's issues.

For Danielle, the ultimate goal is to provide a safe and judgment-free space for clients to express themselves authentically. She believes therapy should cater to the individual's unique needs and circumstances, and she places a strong emphasis on building rapport and connections with her clients. Danielle is committed to supporting her clients beyond the therapy room, offering resources and advocating for their well-being in various aspects of life to ensure therapeutic work has the greatest impact possible.

"I hope my clients find whatever they came to therapy for, and find additional benefits along the way," Danielle says. Her guiding principle in therapy is beautifully captured in her quote, "Therapy is having a safe space to be able to think out loud, feel out loud, hear out loud without any judgment…coming to the session however you need to come because every session is going to be different."

Danielle's passion and commitment to her clients are evident in her relentless pursuit of their well-being. She goes above and beyond, challenging her clients when appropriate and ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive. Even in the face of challenges, Danielle remains steadfast in her dedication to her clients' progress.

Danielle’s commitment is unyielding. Outside of her role as a Counseling Professionals provider, Danielle runs her own private practice. Furthermore, she actively involves herself in advocacy for parents and engages in other community involvement work, underscoring her commitment to making a positive impact on her community.

Originally from Massachusetts, Danielle moved to North Carolina four years ago, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic made networking challenging. Despite this obstacle, her passion and dedication allowed her to connect with colleagues at Counseling Professionals and thrive in her role as a counselor. Outside of work, Danielle understands the importance of relaxation and rejuvenation in maintaining a healthy mindset and effectively serving her clients. During her downtime, she unwinds by binging on her favorite shows, connecting with family and friends, and indulging in self-pampering sessions like manicures and pedicures.

Danielle Oates is a dedicated counselor whose passion and genuine care for her clients set her apart. Her commitment to evidence-based practices, coupled with her adaptability and collaborative approach, ensures that her clients receive the best possible care. Danielle's journey at Counseling Professionals has been a fulfilling one, and her impact on the lives of those she helps will undoubtedly continue to be profound.
