As a former wildland firefighter with the US Forest Service, I am passionate about working with first responders, crisis support professionals, and individuals in high-stress, dynamic occupations. I am intimately and personally familiar with the many ways in which the stressors associated with these occupations can affect one’s mental health. I seek to provide a compassionate, supportive environment in which clients can address issues related to occupational stressors, organizational/institutional stressors, trauma, depression, anxiety, and the complex relationship between personal and professional identity. In my course of graduate study, I had the opportunity to work in a wellness support capacity with police officers and crisis counselors, and this gave me insight into the complex, multifaceted stressors which face these populations. Additionally, as a member of the chronic pain community, I understand the myriad ways in which balancing the necessities of life and work with symptoms and self-care can lead to physical and psychological burnout.
I operate with the understanding that attunement to you and your needs is paramount, and I draw upon a combination of DBT-informed approaches, trauma-informed perspectives, mindfulness-based practices, existentially-informed approaches, strengths-based perspectives, and person-centered approaches to accomplish this therapeutic goal. However, I aim to be responsive to the specific needs of my clients, thus I am always open to feedback, and I am extremely amenable to altering specific approaches as the situation dictates. Please feel free to reach out to me. Whether you are new to therapy or have utilized therapy before, I would love to work with you!
